Genstar Capital Announces Promotions of Roman Margolin And Katie Solomon

SAN FRANCISCO – Genstar Capital Management, LLC, a middle market private equity firm that focuses on investments in selected segments of the financial services, software, healthcare, and industrial technology industries, announced today the promotions of Roman A. Margolin to Principal and Katie M. Solomon to Director.

Jean-Pierre L. Conte, Chairman and Managing Director at Genstar, said, “Roman is a key member of our team who has added to the success of our firm and to the growth of a number of our investments. We are pleased to recognize him with this promotion and we look forward to his future contributions that will deliver value to our investors.”

Mr. Margolin joined Genstar Capital in 2008 and was promoted to Vice President in 2011. Prior to joining Genstar, Mr. Margolin was an Associate with Willis Stein & Partners. Previously, he was an Analyst in the investment banking group of J.P. Morgan in Chicago. He earned an MBA from Stanford University and received a BA in Economics (summa cum laude) from Case Western Reserve University. Mr. Margolin serves on the boards of Genstar portfolio companies Netsmart Technologies, Inc., Granite Global Solutions, Inc., eResearch Technology, Inc. and was formerly director of PRA International, Inc.

Commenting on Ms. Solomon’s promotion, Mr. Conte added, “In just a few years, Katie has helped drive growth of our investments by enhancing our existing management teams and helping to recruit new executive talent, which enables us to more quickly transform our portfolio companies. We look forward to further building our firm and network of advisors with Katie’s valuable help.”

Ms. Solomon joined Genstar in 2011 as Vice President, Human Capital, a newly created position, to help ensure the firm attracts and retains the best leaders in its focused segments and drive growth through the identification and acquisition of talent. Prior to Genstar, she was Vice President, Human Capital and Investor Relations at Vector Capital. Previously, she worked in executive search at Russell Reynolds Associates. Before that, she led the marketing team at Harvard Business School Career Services and directed the global investment banking recruiting department at Robertson Stephens. Ms. Solomon began her career as a Consultant with Bain & Company. She received her B.A. in American Studies, Phi Beta Kappa, and her M.A. in English from Stanford University. She received her M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
